The Dead Weather – Treat Me Like Your Mother

I stomp through life much like Jack White and Alison Mosshart in this video most of the time, dripping in acid and venom, but I’m pretty sure my angry walk just looks ridiculous. Maybe I need a rifle.

True or False? Coldplay covers are often better than Coldplay themselves.

*Note: You are not my friend if you said “False”

Don’t get me wrong, I like Coldplay. Well, sorta. Kinda. Maybe not. They stay in that middle ground of where I’ll listen to them if they’re on the radio only if all the other stations are playing Nickleback. They’re just a band that I don’t really hate, but don’t really like either. I think the lyrics are emotional, but they don’t translate well when preformed. It’s like. . . all the components of a great song being there, but everything sounds so dead when Chris Martin whines it out. Dead emotion? At least, that’s how I see Coldplay.

Violet Hill is the only song from Coldplay that I really like. It might be because it sounds nothing like their regular stuff. Pendulum does a kick ass job at covering that song. I wouldn’t say that it is better than the original, but it provides a good alternative. When the original isn’t angry enough, I’ll listen to Pendulum’s version of it, and vice versa for when I’m sad.

It’s like . . . two different versions of the song for two very different moods. The original, for when you feel like indulging in your misery, and the other for when you’re just bitter, upset, and confused. Maybe one leads into the other :B

So if you loved me, won’t you let me know?

I haven’t been this excited about Chinese New Year’s since I was a kid :B Well, CNY’s always fun for me since we get to snack on sweets (which I actually don’t like that much) and celebrate with lots of fireworks. Anddd getting red envelopes never hurts. But as we’ve gotten older, we’ve sort of . .stopped celebrating as much as we used to. But this year is going to be different, and you wanna know why? :D That’s right, it’s the year of the Tiger! And guess who is a tiger? Me! RAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWRRRRRRRR.

So let us pop on some music and go through the list of personality traits for a tiger (and see why we are so badass, yeah? :D)

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros – Home
Home, let me come home . .Home is when I’m in love with you.
In bold and in parentheses are the parts I’ve added in. Let’s see how accurate it is!

Tigers are rebels. They are both colorful and unpredictable. Their energy and love of life are stimulating. They love being the center of attention and never go unnoticed. Tigers are impatient and always look for action. (My mom always said I was too stubborn and too impatient :/ I think I’m patient up to a certain extent. Like I’m patient with assholey guys, but not patient with things like standing in lines.)They speak their minds when upset and have suspicious natures. (Oh, you’ll know when I’m pissed off.)

But in spite of their quick tempers, they are sincere, generous and very affectionate. They also possess a great sense of humor. (Only to those who enjoy my sarcastic personality?) Tigers like people, involvement, and dedication to humanitarian causes. They seek out adventures, and at certain points in their lives, they will be very rebellious. (Note: I quit being such a rebel at sixteen. I think they have it wrong about the humanitarian causes though. I enjoy helping people, but I don’t think I would care all too much if humans ceased to exist. Does that make sense? But since we do exist, and will continue to do so until some crazy plague / human hatred / aliens / zombies / robots / mecha dinosaurs / horrific climate change / wipes us all out, I will try my best to help those in need.) They must act out some of their ideals and lash out at the wrongs of society. Tigers are so daring that they acquire many admirers. (I’m not really daring. I’m probably best described as a wimp who will take on difficult tasks if required to.) Those who disapprove of what Tigers do still will secretly admire Tigers for their actions.(Bitches be jealous.)

When Tigers are injured they need all-out sympathy. Logic does not appeal to them. They want to be comforted. (Personally, I can’t understand why people don’t understand this. It doesn’t matter how smart you’ll sound, or what reason you give me to tide me over — if I’m hurt you’ll know it. Everything you’ll tell me to cheer me up will sound like an excuse and I’m too damn impatient for that.) They will listen sincerely to the advice you give, and then do exactly as they please. (:D) Since they have a lot of spunk, no matter how down and out they get, they never give up. They can always start over again.

People born during the year of the Tiger have super egos. (:D) Tread lightly and don’t hurt their feelings. They may never forgive you! (We will fucking cut you!) Tigers are romantic, passionate, and playful. They are also extremely jealous and possessive. If they do not learn to control their emotions, they could cause themselves much trouble. (I’m working on this.)The lives of Tigers are full of emotional situations, but they love it that way. They love life and want to live it to the fullest. (Well, yeah. What is life without exploring the wide spectrum of emotions? Too bad I have a habit of going to the extremes . . .)

Optimistic, Tigers always bounce back for new and fresh challenges. Tigers are very generous with rewards when you have pleased them. Being delightful hosts, Tigers go all-out to see that you have a good time. They are intense individuals, especially when upset and angry, (I will fucking cut you!) but Tigers are famous for their ability in influencing others and swaying crowds.

Well, wasn’t that fun? :DDD Whatever. I have incense in my eyes and this is going to be a terrific year.

Growing up. Growing old. Growing apart, growing together. Changes, unfun changes. So I’m not going to think about it tonight.

So here’s a list of songs that I have on every playlist in my iPod. If your name starts with a J, you’ve probably heard it already (and I’ll already have sent you the songs). If you chopped me open, these notes would be streaming in my blood and the lyrics fusing itself with my dna. They are the sounds that come out of me when I’m crying my heart out, professing my love, and coming back humiliated, shaken, and beat. And they are the reason why I keep going. These are the songs that I play when I’m happiest, when I’m in love, when I’m spending time with myself at the highest place I can find myself on. These are the songs I never skip when they come up on my iPod and the songs I’m probably listening to when you notice the weird girl spacing out on the back of the bus.

So I present to you, my lifeline. Because without music, life would not be fair.

1. Goodnight Song – Tears for Fears
2. Blood Bank – Bon Iver
3. Enjoy the Ride – Morcheeba
4. Star of Wonder / None Shall Pass- Tor/Sufjan Stevens
5. Mykonos – Fleet Foxes
6. Riverbed – Morcheeba
7. All I Believe In – The Magic Numbers and Amadou and Mariam
8. Brackett, WI – Bon Iver

Arcade Fire – Maps (Yeah Yeah Yeahs Cover)

1. Things are pretty shit if I sat around and really tried to digest all the things that are going on right now. But I know that there isn’t anything I can’t get through.

2. Plans for next year look pretty daunting. Find a second or better paying job, getting my dental problems taken care of, moving out.

2a. My friend Gabby and I are planning to move out together sometime next year. We have begun actively searching for a place to stay (that won’t get us killed/raped/scammed and won’t cost a fortune since our jobs suck) but everything is sort of on hold until the end of December (to see if I still have my one job).

2b. A place to keep all of our shoes would be nice.

2c. Calculating our expenses is hard work u__u.

3. Oh yeah! Did I tell you that I’m headed off to Chicago, maybe New York (if Mindy’s couch is still available) early next year? I found out that I have a lot of vacation time racked up from work, and there is no better time than January to take a trip to Chicago to freeze my sorry ass off! I’ll be heading east with my good friend Tyler on the Amtrak :P

3a. He says that by the end of the trip, we will either become closer or end up killing each other. I’m thinking it’s a combination of both. What usually happens in my relationships with men (and this is with any male figure, not just the romantic ones) is that we’ll become too close and then all of a sudden, he’ll disappear. Too close, backing off. That kind of deal. I’ll talk about them for weeks on end until all discussion about them stops — usually because they’re no longer in my life. Except this time we’ll be stuck on a train and there’s nowhere to run. So the next logical step would be to kill each other.

3b. Makes sense to me?
